The town lies on the banks of the Târnava Mare River, 20 km east from the city of Mediaş, the second largest city in the county.
The city administers two villages, Ernea (Ehrgang; Argung; Szászernye) and Şaroş pe Târnave (Scharosch; Šuerš; Szászsáros).
