Monroe Milstein

Monroe Milstein

Monroe Milstein (born 1927) is an American businessman. He was born in 1927 to a Jewish Russian immigrant father and a Jewish American-born mother. In 1972, he founded Burlington Coat Factory. He received much of the money he needed to found the business from his wife, Henrietta, who had saved money from her salary as a teacher-librarian. His family controlled Burlington Coat Factory until 2006, when it was sold to Bain Capital. He now resides in Florida.
