CollegeHOF=Terry Thomas Allen, Jr. (born
February 21 ,1968 in Commerce, Georgia) is a formerAmerican football running back in theNational Football League . In the1990 NFL Draft he was selected in the ninth round by theMinnesota Vikings . During his three season career with the Vikings he gathered 2,797 rushing yards with 23 rushingtouchdown s. After Minnesota, he joined theWashington Redskins and wasting no time in his first year, he ran over 1,000 yards with 10 rushing touchdowns. During the 1996 season, his second with the Redskins, he gathered 21 rushing touchdowns; only 9 other running backs ever rushed for over 20 touchdowns in a single season. He also had another career best in the 1996 season; besides 21 rushing touchdowns, he ran for 1,353 yards, which earned him a spot in thePro Bowl . After the 1996 season, he played with Washington for only two more seasons and ran over 700 yards in each season. In 1999, he played for theNew England Patriots , where he ran for nearly 900 yards with 8 rushing touchdowns. He had the worst season of his career with theNew Orleans Saints in 2000, when he was forced into action after starting RBRicky Williams broke his ankle. Allen's performance was so poor that he earned the nickname "no gain" from a small group of NFL fans, who noticed that in the Saint's late season games they would start each possession with Allen running for no gain. Even though he had a subpar season with the Saints, in 2001 theBaltimore Ravens signed him to a one year deal due to losingJamal Lewis for the season.Trivia
