Herb Brown (born
March 14 ,1936 ) is an Americanbasketball coach. He is currently anassistant coach for theCharlotte Bobcats , joining his brother, head coach Larry Brown. He coached theDetroit Pistons from the1975-76 NBA season to the 1977-78 season, twice making the playoffs. Born inBrooklyn ,New York , Brown is a graduate of theUniversity of Vermont in 1957.The Bobcats are Herb's third team on which he has served under brother Larry; together, they helped coach the Pistons to win the NBA championship in 2004 as well as taking the
Philadelphia 76ers to the2001 NBA Finals . In 2006, Herb Brown was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.Brown has also served as an assistant coach for several teams, including the
Portland Trail Blazers and thePhiladelphia 76ers .He also coached overseas, most notably isSpain in the early 1990s. He was head basketball coach at the SUNY at Stony Brook in 1964 and continued in that capacity for the remainder of the 1960s.Herb was previously an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, and also runs a Basketball Academy in the summer at the
