It is now the largest department store in Dorset.J E Beale is a member ofAssociated Independent Stores (a buying group) which enables Beales to benefit from the cost savings of buying textile and other non-food goods in bulk.The group acquired theBentalls department stores inEaling (closed October 2007),Tonbridge andWorthing from Fenwick in 2002 and closed itsWalton-on-Thames store in January 2006 due to redevelopment of the site.
