Royal William (rose)

Royal William (rose)

The Royal William Rose is a hybrid red tea rose. It is also known as "Duftzauber" (in English: 'Fragrant Charm', another marketed name, or 'Scented Magic').

According to "The Ultimate Rose Book", the rose was introduced in 1983, when Britain celebrated the birth of Prince William of Wales, the first son of the Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Since the term "Royal William" can also be seen as commemorating the 1988 tricentenary of the Glorious Revolution, Buckingham Palace did not officially approve of the name.
