Kirton in Lindsey, also abbreviated to Kirton Lindsey, is a small town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. It is convert|10|mi|km|1 south of Scunthorpe, near the A15 road, and has a total resident population of 2,694.

Served by Kirton Lindsey railway station, the town is the site of RAF Kirton in Lindsey. Its name distinguishes it from the other Kirton in Lincolnshire, known as Kirton in Holland.

Governance

Historically part of the West Riding of the parts of Lindsey, in the county of Lincolnshire, Kirton became part of Glanford Brigg poor law union in the 19th century and thus ended up in Glanford Brigg Rural District from 1894 and then from 1974 to 1996 the Glanford district of Humberside. This became part of the North Lincolnshire in 1996.

Religious sites

Amongst the churches in Kirton in Lindsey was a Salvation Army Hall, which was in turn a former Primitive Methodist church. The building is no longer standing. The [http://www.the-umc.co.uk United Mission Church] of St Andrew is on St Andrews Street and includes Anglican, Methodist and Baptist congregations.

Economy

There is the usual assortment of small businesses and shops serving the local community.

Education
