Fiction Records is a
record label that was founded in 1978 by Chris Parry as a home forThe Cure . The record label went on to be shared by Chris Parry, Robert Smith ofThe Cure andIta Martin . Their office was based in Charlotte Street, London.other notable acts to release on Fiction around this time were the Purple Hearts, Back To Zero [http://www.backtozero.freeola.net] ,Associates ,Die_Warzau and Eat. The label's first #1 record was "Wish" byThe Cure in 1992, going #1 in the United Kingdom. The band left the record label in 2001, signing toGeffen at the end of the year.After a dormant period of several years, the label was then re-started in 2004 by
Joe Munns ,Paul Smernicki andJim Chancellor as aPolydor imprint. The first release on the 'new' Fiction was theSnow Patrol single "Run" (which entered the UK chart at 5) and album "Final Straw " which has since gone on to sell over 2 million copies around the world. Other notable acts from the current Fiction stable includeIan Brown ,Yeah Yeah Yeahs ,The Grates ,Stephen Fretwell ,The Maccabees ,Kate Nash , Elbow,Delays and White Lies.Fiction Records are currently on the verge of signing Max Raptor, a four-piece from the middle of England with a unique style and are renowned for there electric live show and unusual hybrid logo of a raptor and a human. The band are due to release a single, 'Sparks' in late 2008 followed up by 'Conversations with Death'.ee also
