Gaius Appius Junius Silanus

Gaius Appius Junius Silanus

Gaius Appius Junius Silanus (Classical Latin: "Gaivs Appivs Ivnivs Silanvs"; ? — 42) was a consul in 28 (with Publius Silius Nerva). In 41, when he was governor in Hispania Tarraconensis the new Emperor Claudius made him marry Domitia Lepida, the mother of Empress Valeria Messalina. He was executed because his stepdaughter Messalina and Narcissus convinced Claudius that he intended to assassinate Claudius [Suetonius Life of Claudius 37] .
