Illegal sports

An illegal sport is any sport which has been banned by law. Many of these sports are blood sports which have been banned on grounds of cruelty to animals, such as baiting and cockfighting. Others, such as street racing have been banned for reasons of public safety. The extreme sports of BASE jumping and elevator surfing are effectively illegal in most places, as participants often trespass on private property in order to reach suitable locations. BASE jumping is sanctioned at some special events, such as the Go Fast Games at Royal Gorge Bridge in Cañon City, Colorado.
