La Fée Absinthe

La Fée Absinthe

La Fée Absinthe is a brand of absinthe; it is a highly alcoholic, anise-flavored, distilled spirit containing the herb wormwood ("Artemisia absinthium"). La Fée Absinthe was created by Green Utopia, which is owned and run by George Rowley.

La Fée comes in four styles: Parisienne, an anise-flavored absinthe; Bohemian, a low-anise absinth; and La Fée X•S Suisse and La Fée X•S Française, which are two “extra supérieure,” wine-based absinthes.

La Fée Absinthe Parisienne

La Fée Parisienne was first distilled in July 2000 [Marie-Claude’s Diary http://www.lafeeabsinthe.com/content/view/127/140/] in association with the Musée de l’Absinthe, Auvers-sur-Oise, France, and its founder and curator, Marie-Claude Delahaye. It was the first absinthe distilled and bottled in France since the 1915 ban. It is made in copper stills in a classic pre-ban method and contains a dozen plants, including "Artemisia absinthium" (Grande Wormwood) and "Artemisia pontica" (Petite Wormwood). It is bottled at 68% ABV or in a 45% ABV version.

La Fée Parisienne contains a colorant, which creates the green color that is typical of 'the Green Fairy' and is usually drunk in the traditional manner of adding 4–6 parts chilled water poured over a sugar cube. It is also used as an ingredient of various cocktails.

It has been awarded the International Spirits Challenge Silver Medal in 2003, the Beverage Testing Institute Gold Medal in 2007, and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Medal in 2008.clear

La Fée Absinth Bohemian

La Fée Absinth Bohemian is a Czech-style, low-anise liquor, first produced south of Prague in Bohemia since November 2004. Because it is low-anise and does not produce a louche, it is considered to be a different product from absinthe (with an 'e'). It is mostly mixed in cocktails rather than being drunk in the traditional manner of absinthe.

La Fée Absinthe X•S Suisse

La Fée X•S Suisse, officially released in 2007, is a La Bleue produced in the town of Couvet in the Val-de-Travers region of Switzerland. Each distillation takes place in small copper stills which have the capacity to produce just over 100 bottles. It has a wine alcohol base.

La Fée Absinthe X•S Suisse won the following awards in 2007: at the International Wine and Spirits Competition − Silver and 'Best in Class,' and at Wine & Spirit Magazine's International Spirits Challenge − the 'New Brand Innovation Award.' It also won the Absinthiades Golden Absinthe Spoon and was overall absinthe winner 2007.clear

La Fée Absinthe X•S Française

La Fée X•S Française, officially released in 2007, is a naturally colored, wine-alcohol-based verte that is distilled in the town of Pontarlier, the French homeland of absinthe. The production of X•S Française uses traditional distillation methods and stills that were purchased secondhand in 1870.

La Fée Absinthe X•S Française won the silver medal at the 2007 Absinthiades in Pontarlier.
