Mishin was spent his childhood in
Tbilisi and afterwards moved toLeningrad with his family. Together they won the 1969Soviet Figure Skating Championships defeating both the two-time Olympic Gold medalistsLudmila Belousova andOleg Protopopov , and the future championsIrina Rodnina andAlexei Ulanov . They went on to place second at the 1969World Figure Skating Championships . They won the silver medal (1968) and the Bronze medal (1969) at the European Championships.
