Elena Liliana Popescu

Elena Liliana Popescu (b. July 20 1948 in Turnu Măgurele, Teleorman ) is a Romanian poet and translator. Member of the Writers' Union of România, poetry section.

Publishing activity

After 1989 - involved in the social, civic and political life from Romania, writing articles of general interests and on contemporary Romanian life. Her literary activity is geared mainly towards poetry and translations from world's philosophical and spiritual literature.

Some of her poems have been translated in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, Serbian, Chinese, Hungarian, Latin, Hebrew, Polish, and Urdu, and have been published in literary revues from Romania and also from abroad (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Germany, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Serbia, Spain, Taiwan, USA).

Also she had published in literary revues various translations of the contemporary poetry from Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Italy, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, USA.

For the literary activity Elena Liliana Popescu has received the "Special Diploma" at the International Festival of Poetry, Uzdin (Serbia,1997), the "First prize" at the Poetry Festival Novalis, Munich (Germany, 1998) and "Special Diploma" at the "X Certamen de Poesia" "Leonardo Cercós" (Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 2007)
