club based inSt Neots ,Cambridgeshire ,England History
The club was formed in 1879 and was then known as St Neots. Between 1927 and 1949, the club played in the South Midlands League, apart from a three-year spell in the UCL between 1936/37 and the war in 1940, when they were called "St Neots and District". In 1949 the Saints became founder members of the Metropolitan and District League. They resigned to join the Central Alliance League, but promptly switched back again, changing their name to "St Neots Town" in 1951. They then joined the Metropolitan League for much of the 1960s, which at the time had junior teams from major London league clubs playing, so the Saints employed professional management and players. In 1966/67 they joined the United Counties League. For four
seasons , between 1969/70 and 1972/73, the Saints played in theEastern Counties League . In 1973/74 they returned to UCL Premier Division, where they remained, apart from a season in Division One in 1982/83.However, in 1987, the owner of the site of the Saints’ Shortsands ground sold up to a housing developer, which obliged the club to disband after the 1987/88 season. The Saints reformed in 1989/90.to play junior football in the Huntingdonshire and District Football League. During 1992, the club signed a forty-year lease on a 4½
acre site (1.82hectare ) to the east of the town. The club committee worked hard to organise fund-raising and building work, and the excellent Rowley Park ground took shape. The Saints were re-admitted to the United Counties League in 1994, winning the league title at the first attempt. They have since more than held their own, and April 2008 saw the official opening of their brand-new Loves Farm ground [ [http://www.huntspost.co.uk/content/hunts/multimedia/slideshow/story.aspx?brand=HPTOnline&category=Media_Slideshow&tBrand=HertsCambsOnline&tCategory=slideshowHPT&itemid=WEED16%20Apr%202008%2010%3A38%3A34%3A240 Open for business: St Neots FC’s new ground "Hunts Post" 16 April 2008] ] , which includes a number of community assets, including floodlights and anAstroturf pitch..In the 2008/09 season, St Neots Town F.C. is playing in the Eagle Bitter
United Counties Football League Premier Division , under the management of ex-Luton Town man Marvin Johnson, looking to further their ambitions both on and off the pitch.Club statistics
