Teesside Airport railway station serves
Durham Tees Valley Airportin the boroughof Darlington and the ceremonial countyof County Durham, England.
The airport changed its name in 2004; however, the station name remained unchanged. In 2007
Northern Railerected new signs reading "Teesside Airport", replacing older signs which had used a hyphen however National Railstill lists the station as "Tees-side Airport". [ [http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/tea/details.html National Rail Enquiries - Station Facilities for Tees-side Airport] ] . This has led to it not being clear whether the official station name contains the hyphen or not.
Located on the
Tees Valley Lineand operated by Northern Rail, the station is one of the five worst served in the UK in terms of the number of services calling: it currently has only one train a week each way, both of which call on a Saturday. Public transport access to the airport is now much better served by the "Sky Express" bus service's from Middlesbrough and Darlington. If the government allows the go ahead of the Tees Valley Metro, it will be a principal station and called Airport.
