WeeMee

A WeeMee is an animated avatar for Skype (since December 2005), Windows Live Messenger, and AOL Instant Messenger. WeeMees can be customized on the WeeWorld site or on AIM.com. Customizations available are similar to those on other avatar sites and include facial features, clothing, and accessories. In May, 2008, weeworld created "world", an addition to site where weemees are able to walk around (actually jumping), and chat live for the first time. The site has created has been criticised in the past for not having this feature until now.

In November 2006, WeeWorld, the company behind WeeMee, sued Nintendo of America alleging copyright infringement of the WeeMee name by Nintendo's Mii avatars on their Wii video game system. However, in March 2007, WeeWorld moved to have the case dismissed without prejudice in order to focus on litigation in the UK, where WeeWorld has most of its business. However, Nintendo moved to have the case dismissed with prejudice in order to prevent further legal action. The result of the decision is still pending.

WeeWorld

With a WeeMee, a "WeeWorld" personal web page is created. This is similar to a MySpace account in that it comes with a blog, the capability to add friends, to have a thought, and to post comments on other people's pages.

A WeeMee can be transferred from WeeWorld to AIM, Windows Live, Skype, or a mobile phone. Some methods turn the WeeMee into a static image.

In AIM, the WeeMee responds with animation based on emoticons and specific language used. While mimicking the smiley emoticons, it also has a specific range of vocabulary that it picks up on and applies into movement. Some examples include:
*Thumbs up when "ok" or "yes" is typed
*Thumbs down when "nope" or "no" is typed
*Gears turning when "thinking" is typed
