The Reverend Brian F. Linnane, SJ (b.
August 25 ,1955 ) is the 24th President ofLoyola College in Maryland , taking over after the death of Fr.Harold Ridley . He entered the Society of Jesus in 1977 and was ordained as aRoman Catholic priest onJune 14 1986 .Linnane's educational background includes numerous degrees, including a bachelor's degree from
Boston College , master's degrees fromGeorgetown University , theJesuit School of Theology at Berkeley , and two degrees from theYale University Department of Religious Studies. He also holds a Ph.D. from the Yale Department of Religious Studies and aLicentiate of Sacred Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley.Before coming to Loyola, Linnane served as Assistant Dean of the
College of the Holy Cross , National Vice President ofAlpha Sigma Nu , the Jesuit Honor Society, and chair of theCatholic Theological Society of America 's admissions committee.He was announced as president of Loyola on
June 2 2005 and inauguratedOctober 21 2005 .
