Kirkley , a district ofLowestoft ,England , currently playing in theEastern Counties Football League Premier Division , at the 5th step within the non-league pyramid.Club History
First records of the club being established are recorded in
1886 , however the original club merged with East Suffolk F.C to form Lowestoft F.C. in 1887. Following a trial for players in late 1889, a second club then went on to be formed just over a year later in 1890. From this creation a strong side was formed and went on to better Lowestoft for a period of time, reaching the F.A. Amateur Cup Semi-Final of 1896-97 [cite web | title=History of Kirkley F.C.| url=http://www.kirkleyfc.co.uk/pages/clubhistory.asp] .Following along similar lines the two clubs continued to merge and reform a number of times, with Kirkley taking their name and form for the 1978/79 season when Brooke Marine F.C. adopted it. Until the end of the 2006/07 season the official name of the club was Kirkley United, this being due to Lowestoft still holding the name 'Kirkley', but the 'United' part was normally overlooked and so they played as Kirkley in the
Eastern Counties Football League Premier Division . From the end of the 2006/07 their current official name is Kirkley & Pakefield Football Club, though they are still referred to as Kirkley.Kirkley were promoted to the
Eastern Counties Football League from theAnglian Combination for the 2003/04 season, gaining promotion from the First Division into the Premier Division the following season in 2004/05, when they finished 3rd.Notes
