The club started as an under 14's boys team and based in
Bramford nrIpswich in 1980 and two years later they entered the lowest division of theIpswich Sunday League . Managed byColwyn Rowe ,Sponsorship resulted in a name change during 1988 to Loadwell Ipswich F.C., 1988–89 they became founder members of Division One in the Eastern Counties League. Their first season in the Premier Division was a struggle and they were saved from relegation only by the merger of the two Sudbury clubs ("see
