December 6 ,1896 -September 5 ,1971 ) was anAmerican football center for theDecatur Staleys (now known as theChicago Bears ) of theNational Football League from 1920-1921 and 1923-1932. George's football skills first came to notice when he played atOak Park River Forest High School , then named Oak Park High, in the Chicago suburb ofOak Park . He was thehead coach of theWinnipeg Blue Bombers of theCanadian Football League from 1951-1953. He attended theUniversity of Notre Dame . He is credited as being the first center to snap the ball with one hand. Trafton is a member of thePro Football Hall of Fame .External links
