Rougé is a French town in the department of
Loire-Atlantique , RegionPays de la Loire in the historical province ofBretagne (West of France), nearRennes .The name "Rougé" comes from the Latin "Rubiacus", means "the red place". The name was used to call "the red place" because of the high iron-composition of the ground.
This city is the original lordship of a famous French dynasty of the same name (Rougé-Rougé, Rougé de Derval, Rougé du Plessis-Bellière, and Rougé de Caylus).
The Lords of Rougé are legitimate descendants in male line of the Kings of Brittany, through Riwallon IV royal prince of Brittany, earl of Poher, eldest son of Salomon (or Salaün), King of Brittany.
