Scott, AKA Dave Scott, began his career as an artist and musician, recording and releasing several CDs of electronic music from his home studio in Cincinnati. After attending Central Academy of Commercial Art to study painting and graphic design, he began studies at the Art Academy of Cincinnati where he majored in photography and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1983. During his time at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Scott became involved with performance and conceptual art as well as experimental photography. After an initial exhibition at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, his work has been shown in several galleries and museums across the USA and Europe.

Some of his most notable works were "Wire Music", an installation which used wind to vibrate a wire and "A Small Room Full of Loud Noises", sound sculpture exhibited at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center. In 1987, some of Scott's computer-generated art was part of an exhibition at the Krannert Galley in Evansville, Indiana - the first exhibition of computer art in the region.

Scott continues to work with electronic music, sound-related art, and conceptual works of all kinds.

In 2005, the artist founded the Cincinnati Gallery of Conceptual Art, a place for like-minded artists to showcase their work and ideas.
