Pleissnerland

Pleissnerland

Pleissnerland, Pleissenland, or the Imperial Territory of Pleissenland ( _de. Reichsterritorium Pleißenland; _la. Terra Plisensis) was part of the Holy Roman Empire. It was named for the Pleiße River, and was located in what is now in the German states of Thuringia and Saxony. It included the towns of Chemnitz, Altenburg, and Leisnig.

The territory arose in the course of the 12th century as a creation of Emperor Friedrich I (Barbarossa)'s eastward expansion of the Empire.
