Fred Matua (born January 14, 1984 in city-state|Wilmington|California) is an American football guard for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Southern California.

Matua has also been a member of the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns.

High school career

Matua prepped at Banning High School in Los Angeles, California where he won the LA City 4A City Championship his senior year, under his uncle Ed Lalau as the head coach.

College career

While playing college football for the USC Trojans, Matua was an All-American in 2005.

Professional career

He was drafted on the second day by the National Football League's Detroit Lions but was cut by the team and was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad. On October 28, 2006, he was signed to the Cleveland Browns roster.

Personal

His distant cousin is Manu Tuiasosopo, father of Oakland Raiders quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo.
