- Hooyah
Hooyah is the war cry or
battle cry most commonly used in theUnited States Navy , though sometimes exclusively associated with theNavy SEALs . It is similar to the expressionsOorah in the Marine Corps andHooah in the U.S. Army. It is used to say "Ok" or "understood" or is sometimes used to show enthusiasm. Hooyah is also the war cry of theUnited States Air Force Special Forces Combat Controllers and Pararescue Jumpers.Recently, Air Force Civil Engineers have taken up this battle cry.
The origin is unclear, but may be related to "Heard-Understood-Acknowledged" (HUA).
Navy UDT veteran Jesse Ventura ended his inaugural gubernatorial speech with "Hooyah."Also used to describe an unknown object. EX, In front of the hooyah over there.
