Scott Shriner (born July 11, 1965 in Toledo, Ohio) is the current bass guitar player for the alternative rock band Weezer.

Early life

Shriner took up bass in high school.Luerssen D., John. "Rivers' Edge: The Weezer Story". ECW Press, 2004, ISBN 1-55022-619-3 p. 369] After joining the Marines for two years following high school, he decided that he wanted to play bass professionally. He got his start in a band called The Seventh Wave with his best friend Rob Weaver, as well as Bob Schramm and Bill Whitman.Luerssen D., John, 2004 p. 370] Shriner moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 25 and played in several bands, including Broken, Bomber, The Movers, Exciters, Loved By Millions, Black Elvis, The Great Barbecue Gods and, most notably, Vanilla Ice's backing band.Luerssen D., John, 2004 p. 370] Luerssen D., John, 2004 p. 371]

Weezer

He has appeared on three of Weezer's six studio albums, "Maladroit", "Make Believe" and "Weezer". On Weezer's latest self-titled album, he co-wrote and sang lead vocals on "Cold Dark World," sang lead vocals on "King," a deluxe edition track and sung most of the lead vocals for the band's cover of "The Weight" by The Band. In 2005 he sang lead vocals on Weezer songs "In the Garage," "Dope Nose" and "Fall Together." In 2008 during the band's Hootenanny Tour he sang lead vocals on a cover of "Creep" by Radiohead and sang "Perfect Situation" and "My Name is Jonas" which he sings in a three way lead vocal second with Patrick Wilson and Rivers Cuomo singing lead vocals first and last respectively on the band's Troublemaker Tour. He also played on the band's EP "The Lion and the Witch" and numerous b-sides and demos that can be found floating around the internet. He has also played shows with Patrick Wilson's band The Special Goodness.

Equipment

Scott's bass guitars of choice are his 1960 and 1962 Fender Precision Bass guitars. His rig setup consists of an SVT Classic and two Ampeg SVT 8x10 cabinets. Personal life

On November 9th, 2005 he married Jillian Lauren in Hawaii.

He guest starred with the band The Scrantones at The Office convention.
