Lauren Newton is the daughter of Australian TV personality Bert Newton and Patti Newton. Lauren was educated at private girls school Genazzano FCJ College, Kew. Her brother is actor Matthew Newton.

She married swimmer Matt Welsh on November 4 2006 at St Dominic's Church in Camberwell. Lauren gave birth to their first child on 19th January 2008, a healthy baby boy named Sam Albert Newton Welsh.

Good Morning Australia

Lauren Newton has appeared on multiple occasions on the Channel 10 morning show "Good Morning Australia" which was hosted by her father Bert Newton. With the axing of "Good Morning Australia" Lauren has been let go from Channel 10. She is now working with Channel 9 on various television roles.

Girl's Day Out

Lauren was appointed ambassador for the 2005 Girl's Day Out.
