Cancer Institute of New Jersey

The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is a research institution based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, aimed at addressing the devastating effects of cancer. CINJ's efforts have led to its inclusion as one of only 39 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation - the only one in New Jersey.

As part of this group of centers nationwide, CINJ is a leader in laboratory, clinical, prevention, and population research. CINJ delivers advanced comprehensive care to adults and children and conducts cutting edge cancer research. Laboratory research at CINJ is supported by more than $80 million annually in cancer-related research grants. Top scientists are at the forefront of developing methods to treat and prevent cancer.

CINJ's physician-scientists engage in translational research, transforming their laboratory discoveries into clinical practice - quite literally bringing research to life. In just ten short years, patient visits at CINJ went from zero in 1993 to close to 70,000 patient visits in 2003. While the numbers continue to grow, CINJ is committed to treating each and every patient with the utmost compassion - providing treatment options that are as unique as the patients themselves.

While the square footage has recently tripled to 225,000 square feet, a special effort was made to reconfigure the patient care setting to create the feel of a much smaller institution - from the intimate clinic waiting rooms to the comfortable Resource and Learning Center, where patients and their families can review the latest information on advanced therapies and new clinical trials. As part of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, CINJ is recognized as a good investment in New Jersey's healthy future.
