Sir James (Duncan) Dunbar-Nasmith, CBE, RIBA, PPRIAS, is a leading conservation architect from
England . He was born in 1927, son of Admiral Sir Martin Eric Dunbar-Nasmith, VC KCBKCMG DL , and his older brother is Rear-AdmiralDavid Arthur Dunbar-Nasmith , CB DSC. Sir James is perhaps best known as the architect ofSunninghill Park , the home of the Duke of York, and Balmoral Estate architect. He is in professional practice as a partner in Law & Dunbar-Nasmith, architects,Edinburgh (1957-), and Hilger, Law & Dunbar-Nasmith, architects,Wiesbaden since 1993. He wasProfessor and Head of the Department of Architecture atHeriot-Watt University ,Edinburgh , and theEdinburgh College of Art 1978 - 1988, and is nowEmeritus Professor at Heriot Watt University. Sir James has been Chairman ofThe Scottish Civic Trust from 1995. He was made a CBE in 1976, andknight ed in 1996.External links
