HMY Fubbs

HMY Fubbs

HMY "Fubbs" was a Royal Yacht of the Royal Navy of Great Britain. She was scrapped towards the end of the eighteenth century after having been in service for 99 years. She was designed for King Charles II by Phineas Pett and built in 1682 at Greenwich (on the Thames, just east of London) with a length of 80ft, a beam of 21ft and a weight of 150 tons. She was rigged as a ketch. Apparently she was a fast vessel. Fubbs was the King's pet name for one of his mistresses (the Duchess of Portsmouth). After Charles II's death, she was used by King James II as one of his fleet of 9 personal yachts. She was in service until 1781.
