Albert John Watkins (born April 21, 1922, in Usk, Monmouthshire) is a former England cricketer who played in 15 Tests from 1948 to 1952.

He was born Albert John Watkins, known as Al and Allan and made his debut at Glamorgan just three weeks after his seventeenth birthday in 1939, just before World War II loomed. He was a left-handed batsman, medium to fast left arm bowler, and a brilliant close fielder, particularly at backward short leg (see story 'Cometh the hour, cometh the man' at www.tssonnet.com): a very useful allrounder who played for Marylebone Cricket Club, Glamorgan County Cricket Club , where he is regarded as a cricketing legend, and England.

He was the first Glamorgan cricketer to score a century in Test Cricket for England and played at the highest level until 1961, when he was 39 years old.

He was voted 'Indian Cricket Cricketer of the Year' in 1951/2.

He went on to coach school cricket very successfully, most notably at Oundle school and Framlingham.

He also played football for Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle.
