In the United Kingdom, Planning Policy Statements (PPS) are statements of the British Government's national policy and principles towards certain aspects of the town planning framework. They apply to England only. They are legally binding and may be treated as material considerations in the determination of planning applications.
They were introduced under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, and are gradually replacing the old style Planning Policy Guidance Notes (PPG).
