footnotes =Brewers Fayre is a chain of around 150 licensed family and casual dining
restaurants in the United Kingdom, owned byWhitbread . They are known for serving traditional British pub food, including Gammon and steak & ale pie which are among the most popular choices.Nearly all Brewers Fayres are on the site of a Whitbread
Premier Inn hotel. There used to be many standalone pubs, but in 2006 Whitbread agreed to dispose of the 239 standalone Brewers Fayre and Beefeater sites. These had traditionally lower revenues and as growth had stalled in them compared to the still-growing Premier Inn sites, they were seen as an obstacle to sales growth in the company as a whole. Whitbread sold them to market rivalMitchells and Butlers , who plan to re brand them in their very similar Innkeeper's Fayre chain. The standalone's which were retained were on sites with development land for a new Premier Inn - such as Lauriston Farm inEdinburgh and Southfields inBolton .Re-branding
Brewster's
For a period in the early 2000s, some larger Brewers Fayre outlets were re-branded as Brewster's, in order to differentiate between family-oriented pubs and those that were more suited to adults. Although very similar in the environment and type of food offered, Brewster's placed a great emphasis on entertaining children. All pubs had a multi-level play area known as the 'Fun Factory'. Children's' entertainers (including Brewster the bear himself) and ice-cream machines were also available. The brand was phased out in 2005, with all outlets returned to the Brewers Fayre brand. However, some children's areas have retained the Brewster's name, such as the Yeadon Way in Blackpool.
Brewster's had been identified as the worst performing restaurant brand of Whitbread'sFact|date=September 2008.
Table Table
As of 2008, some Brewers Fayre restaurants have been converted to
Table Table branded restaurants. These offer meals which are similar to that of Brewer's Fayre but also include some more contemporary dishes.Taybarns
Other Brewers Fayre's are also becoming
Taybarns , an American style all you can eat buffet restaurant, based on the style ofGolden Corral . They will be larger sites where you pay a fixed price on arrival and eat as much as you like.External links
