World War II as a continuation of theYasuda zaibatsu . It coalesced aroundFuji Bank , and group presidents began meeting regularly in1964 . After Fuji Bank merged withDai-Ichi Kangyo Bank andIndustrial Bank of Japan to formMizuho Bank , the group's central firm becameYasuda Life Insurance , which has since become part of theMitsubishi Group of companies as well."Fuyo" is Japanese for "lotus" and comes from a classical reading of the name "Fuji."
