Greene played for theCincinnati Reds (1992–1997), Reds and theBaltimore Orioles in (1998),Toronto Blue Jays (1999), and finally theChicago Cubs in (2000).Greene was the Pittsburgh Pirates first pick in the 1989 June draft. Greene was traded to the Montreal Expos on August 8 of 1990 with Scott Ruskin and Moisés Alou for Zane Smith.
He began his pro career with Augusta of the class "A" South Atlantic League and later played for the Salem (Va) Buccaneers of the class "A" Carolina League and finally with the Rockford Expos of the class "A" Mid West League in 1990.
