In the Super-G and
downhill ,Chemmy Alcott is a rare female competitor in a historically male-dominated GB team.Noel Baxter ,Alain Baxter andJames Leuzinger were the men's representatives in the slalom, and the Baxters also raced in thegiant slalom .Finlay Mickel andRoger Cruickshank were the men'sdownhill andSuper-G skiers.In the men's downhill, Finlay Mickel finished 25th, 2.68 seconds behind the winner

Britain sent two teams to the Olympic curling competition. All of the members of both teams were Scottish. The women's team were the defending Olympic gold medallists.
The members of the men's team were
Euan Byers ,Ewan McDonald ,David Murdoch ,Warwick Smith and Craig Wilson. The members of the women's team wereKelly Wood ,Lynn Cameron ,Deborah Knox ,Jacqueline Lockhart , andRhona Martin .The men lost the bronze medal match to the USA while the women did not progress past the round-robin initial round.

The British figure skating representatives were
Sinéad Kerr and her brother John Kerr, who competed inice dancing . They hail fromScotland and Turin was their first Olympic games.Luge
The British luge participants for 2006 were Mark Hatton and AJ Rosen. Hatton finished a disappointing 35th place after coming off his luge on his third run of four, although he stayed in contact with the luge and remounted. Rosen finished in 16th place.

The GB team made its début on the Olympic halfpipe in 2006.
Kate Foster ,Zoe Gillings ,Lesley McKenna andDaniel Wakeham made up the young quartet.Wakeham finished 26th in men's halfpipe qualifying, missing the final. Gillings qualified 12th for the Snowboard Cross quarter-finals (a new event for the Winter Olympics) with a time of 1:31. She failed to progress further, being taken out of the heat following a collision.

In men’s halfpipe, there were two qualifying runs. The top 6 men from each qualifying run were advanced to the finals. In the first qualifying run, the top 6 scores ranged from 39.4 - 43.8 points. In the second qualifying run, the top 6 scores ranged from a 37.9 - 45.3 points.
Shaun White from the United States won the gold medal with a final run score of 46.8 points.Andy Finch of the United States had the lowest final score of 24.7 points and took 12th place.External links
