June 10 , in a 5-0 loss to theNew York Mets . An early contender to win theNational League Cy Young Award , Webb pitched in the 2006 Major League All-Star Game, recording a hitless inning.Webb struggled in the second half of the season in part due to elbow soreness. San Diego Padres onAugust 28 , pitching seven effective innings. The win came a day after close friend and former UK teammate Jon Hooker and his new bride were among the victims of the doomedComair Flight 5191 leaving Lexington.Webb went on to finish the 2006 season with a record of 16-8 and an ERA of 3.10, and was recognized with the NL

His three consecutive complete game shutouts during the streak was the longest streak sinceRoger Clemens accomplished the same with Toronto in 1998. This streak came to an end when theMilwaukee Brewers scored in the first inning of his start on August 22, 2007.In December, 2007, the City of Ashland, KY re-named a section of Highway 60 the "Brandon Webb Highway" in honor of their local hero. 2008 Season
On May 15, 2008, Webb won his ninth game in as many starts. Webb became the first pitcher in the Majors to win his first nine starts of the season since
Andy Hawkins won ten in his first ten starts in 1984. Near the end of June, Webb was leading the major leagues in wins. He was 13-4 with an ERA of 3.21 and a WHIP of 1.13. He made the All-Star team and threw a scoreless 14th inning with two strikeouts at Yankee Stadium. Brandon Webb was currently as of August 22, 2008 at a league-leading 19-4. He tried twice to become the first pitcher in MLB history to net 20 wins before the end of August, but he lost both of those chances, and eventually, he was edged out of the league lead in wins byCleveland Indians pitcherCliff Lee , who got his 20th win on Sept. 1 in a 5-0 complete game shutout of theChicago White Sox . As of September 22nd, Webb is 22-7 and tied for first in the major leagues with Cliff Lee.ee also
