"Round Round" is a dance-pop song performed by British pop trio Sugababes. It was written by band members Mutya Buena, Heidi Range and Keisha Buchanan, and Miranda Cooper, Niara Scarlett, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Nick Coler, Shawn Lee, and Lisa Cowling for the band's second studio album "Angels with Dirty Faces" (2002). Produced by Kevin Bacon and Jonathan Quarmby, the song based around an uncredited sample of "Tango Forte" by Dublex Inc.

Released as the album's second single in autumn 2002, "Round Round" peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the group's second number-one single domestically. It is also an original soundtrack of the movie "The Guru".

Music video

The music video for "Round Round" has the group performing on a rotating platform, while being surrounded by a stationary tornado with dust and rubble accumlating in it. There is a rusty caged wall with an audience watching, a pair of sunglasses and a ring get sucked into the tornado from them.

When Heidi's verse comes up everything comes to a stand still (including the tornado). The girls slowly walk around 3 male dancers in the middle. In the end chorus it appears the tornado has disappeared.

Chart performance

"Round Round" debuted at #1 on the UK singles chart and remained at the top spot for a week, giving the group their second UK #1 single. "Round Round" was also a success elsewhere reaching #2 in Ireland, the Netherlands and New Zealand. The track also reached #15 in Germany and #8 in Austria. In Australia, "Round Round" debuted at #21 and several weeks later, rose to a peak of #13 and was certified Gold by ARIA, giving the girls their first Australian top twenty hit. The song was also the Sugababes' best selling Australian single, up until the release of their 2005 hit "Push the Button" which reached #3 and was certified Platinum. Despite lower sales of "Round Round" in the UK, it is still more successful than "Freak Like Me", which also reached #1 on the UK singles chart and sold 235,000 copies, while the song has sold 225,000 copies. The Single sold 2.293.00 copies in 2002 alone. [ [http://www.unitedworldchart.de/countdown2002.htm Year End Chart] ]
