Legislative Council of Papua and New Guinea

Legislative Council of Papua and New Guinea

The Legislative Council was created to replace direct rule and provide local rule from Papua and New Guinea. Under the Papua and New Guinea Act 1949, the Council was created and the first sitting started in 1951. It was replaced in 1963 with the House of Assembly of Papua and New Guinea.
