Family

Disappearance

Some time before the start of the first book, he decides to turn all of the family's businesses legitimate. Soon after the fall of the Soviet Union, he attempts to strike a trade deal with Russia. He takes the family ship, the Fowl Star, loaded with 250 thousand cans of cola, from his home in Ireland to Russia. Aftermath

After several years of absence, the courts declare him dead. This causes his wife Angeline Fowl to descend into insanity. The fact that the family lost much money over his death motivated his son Artemis Fowl II to take on the exploits that occur in the first book. He is found and reunited with his family in the .
