Golden Throne (mountain)

The Golden Throne is a mountain located in Capitol Reef National Park, in Utah, United States. It is a dome covered in a gold-colored Navajo Sandstone, which is particularly special because normally the sandstone is creamy white. A two mile long trail runs below the mountain.

The summit is just over 6400 feet in elevation and sits in the Waterpocket Fold, a convert|200|mi|km|adj=on long landform. It is shaped like an ordinary mountain. The only difference is that it is completely made of stone.

The summit is very difficult to reach and requires a climbing permit from the Capital Reef National Park which it resides in. This climb may take several hours to do from the shortest route.
