anniversaries=The 8th Connecticut Regiment also known as 17th Continental Regiment was raised onSeptember 16 ,1776 atDanbury, Connecticut . The regiment would see action in theBattle of Brandywine ,Battle of Germantown and theBattle of Monmouth . The regiment was merged into the1st Connecticut Regiment onJanuary 1 ,1781 atWest Point, New York and disbanded onNovember 15 ,1783 .Joseph Plumb Martin served in this regiment from 1776 till its merger in 1781. He would write his a book about his experiences in 1830.ources
