Palakkad district ofKerala state,South India . It is famous for theKannambra Vela (festival), celebrated each year onMay 24 . This is a miniatureThrissur Pooram and is celebrated by two rival groups represented by the villages of Kannambra andRishinaradamangalam . Festivities include the noonpanchavadyam at the "Viswanatha Swamy temple" inside the "Kannambra Nair House", and the eveningmelam with caparisonedelephants from both sides, followed by a firework display. Another important thing was that it was naturally blessed place. The Goddess worshipped is "Sree Kurumbabagavathy". This has been actually in a very high spirits when "Vela Venkitcha Iyer" was alive.
