U Sa

U Sa also known as Myawaddy Mingyi U Sa (1766-1852) was a Burmese poet, composer, and official for many Burmese kings of the Konbaung Dynasty. U Sa served under several Burmese kings Bodawpaya, Bagyidaw, Tharrawaddy, and Pagan. A general under the command of Maha Bandula, U Sa fought the British in the First Burmese War (1824-1826). During the reign of King Tharrawaddy (r. 1837-1846), he was imprisoned for a few years but was released in 1839.
