Plot
Steve Mason (
Robert Mitchum ), a veteran and drifter employed as a clerk at a department store, is fired after letting widowed comparative shopper Connie Ennis (Janet Leigh ) return a toy train set. Mason ultimately buys the train for Connie's son Timmy (Gordon Gebert ), and the unemployed Mason and the widow gradually fall for each other. Complicating their love, however, is Connie's wealthy but impassive fiancee (Wendell Corey ).Cast
