WT05 was formed in the late
1980s whenWUPW became theFox affiliate for Northwest Ohio. The original name was "TV5," short for "Toledo Vision 5," without a set of call letters. The network was created to fill the full power-independent television void for the entire NW Ohio market, after WNGT 48 (formerly W48AP) became UPN, then My Network TV. The station joined the WB as a charter affiliate in1995 .Over the years the station has carried Toledo area sports, including
