Eisler first competed with
Lori Baier . He then teamed up withKaterina Matousek and competed with her at the 1984 Winter Olympics, in which they finished in eighth place. He partnered withIsabelle Brasseur in 1987. They won five Canadian pairs championships, the 1993World Figure Skating Championships , and they won bronze medals at the 1992 Winter Olympics and the1994 Winter Olympics . They retired in 2004 and are members ofCanada's Sports Hall of Fame .Eisler co-wrote "Brasseur & Eisler: To Catch a Dream", in 1996 and the follow-up book "Brasseur & Eisler: The Professional Years."
Brasseur & Eisler teamed up with Lou-Anne Brosseau (Hunt) in 1992 and formed a company known as "B.B.E. Productions Inc." and together the group planned and organized professional figure skating events across Canada. Their main goal was to raise awareness and funds for the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada who named this dynamic duo National Spokespersons in September 1992. "B.B.E. Productions Inc." has won several awards, producing more than 25 shows and raising more than $250,000.00 in awareness and sponsorship for the charity. In the years of operation (1992 - 2006), B.B.E. also granted several wishes to children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
In 1994, he and Isabelle Brasseur were awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (civil division).
Eisler appeared in the 2006 FOX television program "
Skating with Celebrities " in which he was partnered with actressKristy Swanson . They reportedly began an affair while his wife Marcia was eight months pregnant with their second child. Representatives for both Eisler and Swanson have confirmed the couple are dating, but deny that the affair began before the Eislers filed formal separation papers in November 2005.Eisler and Swanson were in Kingston,
Ontario in February 2006 to promote and host the annual FebFest event withJason Priestley ,Kirk Muller ,Doug Gilmour ,Wendel Clark ,Paul Coffey ,Steve Larmer ,Marty McSorley ,Shayne Corson , Mark Napier, andDeanna Johnston of .His wife Marcia has resumed using her maiden name and also changed their children's names to her maiden name as well. Swanson and Eisler welcomed a son at 1:36 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 and named him Magnus Hart Swanson Eisler.
Controversy
Effective October 6th, 2006, Eisler was suspended from coaching in Canada by Skate Canada.This was after allegedly sending sexually suggestive e-mails to a 15-year-old student. Eisler was coaching in the
United States , where the Canadian ban does not apply, at the time it was announced.
