Fernieside

Fernieside is an area on the southern edge of Edinburgh, Scotland.

It is very close to Craigour, which is just to its north.

Fernieside Football Club were formed in 1989 and the clubrooms are based at Gilmerton Park. The club have 8 teams ranging from 9's through to an Amateur team plus Kids School. The Club as a whole is one of the most progressive clubs on the South Side of the City and are considered to be a well run Family Club. The 2008/09 season saw the SFA's newly initiated Soccer 4's begin here, with budding young visiting teams come from the South of Edinburgh and Midlothian.

As a registered charitable organisation the club has received funding(summer 2008) from the BBC's Children in Need which is designated for an approved new 3G 7-a-side playing field to be located adjacent to the clubrooms. Estimated completion of this exciting investment in youth football is November 2008.
