PSA HDi engine

The PSA Group sells a variety of diesel automobile engines with the HDi designation. Earlier versions were exclusive to Peugeot and Citroën. In 1998 PSA agreed to form a joint venture with Ford Motor Company regarding production of new diesel engines. That partnership makes identical engines available in a variaty of car models and marques. The engines are produced in production plants in the cities of Trémery and Douvrin in France and Dagenham in England, as part of the agreement with Ford Motor Company.

One half of the group's production of car is fitted with a HDi diesel engine, totaling to approximately 1.8 million vehicles per year (2007).

The 1.4 L (1398 cc) Diesel is part of the PSA/Ford DLD family and is properly called the DLD-414.

The 1.6 L (1560 cc) Diesel is part of the PSA/Ford DLD family and is properly called the DLD-416.

The 8-valve 2.0 L DW10 Peugeot/Citroën Diesel is part of PSA's PSA EW/DW engine family. Note that there is also a similar joint venture ZSD engine which uses the same cylinder casings but has a 16-valve head, and is also used by the Ford Focus, 2007 Ford Mondeo, Ford Galaxy, Ford C-Max, Ford S-Max, Volvo C30, Volvo S40, and Volvo V50.

The 2.2 L DW12 Peugeot/Citroën Diesel is part of PSA's PSA EW/DW engine family.

2.7 V6

The 2.7L DOHC 24 valves biturbo V6 DT17 is also produced by the Ford/PSA joint venture, and is the only diesel engine used in PSA passenger vehicles that was not designed or built by them. This particular engine was designed by Ford at their Dunton and Whitley research centres, and is built in Dagenham, England.
