The Journey Museum and Gardens (7 acres) is a historical museum, with gardens, located at 222 New York Street, Rapid City, South Dakota, USA in the historic Black Hills. It is open daily except for major holidays; an admission fee is charged for museum entry.
The museum contains prehistoric and historic collections related to the Western Great Plains of the United States. Exhibits include displays of local geology, archaeology, Native American culture, and European pioneer history.
The museum's gardens include over 310 large sandstone boulders, and feature plants typical of the Black Hills and the surounding aras, and important to Native Americans of the Great Plains, as well as non-native ornamental plants. The collection includes "Achillea millefolium", "Amelanchier alnifolia", "Asclepias incarnata", "Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster'," "Callirhoe", "Cerastium tomentosum", "Chrysanthemum leucanthemum", "Coreopsis", "Helianthus", "Heliopsis helianthoides", "Hemerocallis fulva", "Lilium philadelphicum", blue "lupine", "Monarda", "Nigella", "Oenothera", "Penstemon strictus", "Phlox paniculata", "Pulsatilla patens", "Rosa arkansana", "Sedum", "Solidago", and "Tulipa tarda".
